1. Your life matters and is valuable
Your existence is unique. You will only be content and really satisfied once you honestly accept the blemished person that looks back in the mirror. Yes, there are faults but there is also tremendous potential for growth. This also means acknowledging the need for change and that this pursuit will last a lifetime.
A healthy view of self does not mean that you are the most important ever or only your opinion matters. It does mean you understand what you really need. You cannot exist for someone else’s life or dreams, only for your own.
Learn from people around you, keep the positive and discard everything else.
2.Take care of you
The path to a healthy, happy you begins with the basics. By basics, I mean the needs all humans have, not only to function but to be happy. So far, science has not found viable substitutes for any of these:
- Restful sleep and lots of it
- Balanced diet
- Quiet time
Balancing these basic needs while avoiding bad habits will lead to a healthier view of you.
Learn to forgive your own faults and failures. That is history. Certainly, fix whatever you can and repair relationships, however, accept that you cannot travel back in time and change anything. You can be determined to learn from bad decisions and make good decisions going forward.
Learn to forgive what has been done against you and not because they deserve it, but because you need to move on. It’s their issue, not yours.
You possess many great qualities just waiting to be shown to others: compassion, kindness, patience, generosity, and love. You have so much to give. Let people in. See life from their perspective. You will discover their great qualities and what you can learn from them.
A map is useless without a destination to go to. Life is much the same. There are many big questions in life: Why are you here? What is the meaning of life? Where is life heading? What is happiness and how do you find it? Only you can find satisfying answers to these questions and no one else can do that for you. But it is vital to do it. The answers can be found. A purpose in life will enable you to fully love yourself.
Appreciation for what you have, what others have done, and the beauty in life can greatly enhance your perspective each day. Regularly take time to reflect about what you are grateful about. Then be sure to express that thankfulness to those around you.
Your friends have a tremendous impact on your outlook. Be selective in who you associate with. Choose people that help you be better. People that value you. These are true friends.
Be a doer. Keep you word. Make good decision and then follow thru even when it is hard. The best parts of life are not free, they cost hard work, effort, time, and determination. You will never regret taking action to improve yourself by learning to love that person in the mirror.
